The trays are designed to fit standard 1020 flats (approximately 10" x 20"). Each cell is longer than standard trays to promote deeper root growth and better bottom watering.
One 72-cell insert fits perfectly into a single 1020 tray (flat). This allows you to start 72 plants per flat.
72-cell trays have smaller cells, so they are ideal for plants that will be transplanted early, like lettuce and herbs. 50-cell trays offer larger cells for plants that need more root space before transplanting, such as tomatoes or peppers.
72-cell trays are excellent for leafy greens like lettuce and kale, herbs like basil and cilantro, and flowers like marigolds. They are also suitable for early transplanting of vegetables like broccoli and cabbage.
